Jim Duck

Following a fantastic couple of years at Penncrest and all the great people and teachers  who made a kid from Oklahoma feel welcome and who thought dress slacks were a pair of ironed and creased levis. Graduated from Oklahoma State University with BS in Business, Economics, Mgmt and Statistics. Married a fantastic lady in 1965 and have 3 children and 2 grand children. Retired to near St Augustine, Fl after 39 years with the Corps of Engineers ( 33 years in Louisville, KY and 6 years in Jacksonville). Retired as Chief, Planning Division with responsibility for preparing feasibility, pre-authorivtaion reports and supporting environmental documentation. Major project being restoration of the Everglades with lots of other work with lakes, harbors flood control and work throughout Ky, Ind, Ohio, Ill, Fl and Puerto Rico and the U S Virgin Islands.

I Earned Silver Beaver as an adult scouter, with 2 sons who were Eagle Scouts, Brian  works as an independent contractor and is a SAP software specialist.  Mike is an Art Dirctor for a firm in Louisville and Amy is in OSHA working for Disney in Orlando and runs marathons and scuba dives. All 3 graduated college and are out of the house. I am an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. That and lots of volunteer work with our kids school and sports. Lorraine and I have made it to Maui, Alaska, Las Vegas, London, Paris, and Madrid  and of course Media and almost all of the states.

As for accoumplihments, Lorraine and I both are continuously proud of the many young lives we touched with Lorraine teaching in elementary and Pre-K and all the coaching and supporting kids organizations and the many young people we nutured and encouraged to move up and take on the world with more education and responsible jobs. We run into them in stores, traveling, and visiting our families and it is alway a proud and happy moment when one of them comes up and says, "Do you remember me?", and, "You told me to...". And of course with the advent of Face Book, the world is now at ones door... Life is indeed good.
