After Penncrest:
I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Home Ec Education. I came back to the Media area to teach in Avon Grove High School and Haverford Middle school. I met my husband, a 1958 graduate of Nether Providence, and married in 1969. He is in the packaging field and it has taken us to Summit, NJ, Pittsford, NY, Dallas, TX, Memphis, TN, Marietta, GA and now Dalton GA. Our son and daughter are both in GA but no weddings and no grandkids, we have a grand dog! We love her and she is the best dog we ever had.
I retired from Cobb County schools where I was an In-School-Suspension teacher for 13 years. We averaged 10 to 12 kids a day. I was never a rule breaker, so I have learned many attitudes of life! I dabbled in Real Estate (Ron says I did this dabble very well), job search firm, apparel mart, retail sales...I would find a career and we would move. I enjoyed them all. Fortunately, I worked in education long enough to get a pension!
Ron's business travel and trade shows were our vacations. Wives and sometimes family were included. The shows were mostly Snack Food - yes we got samples! The group was always the same people so we gained many lifetime friendships. We also went to very nice places all around the USA.
Ron's European travel did not include me but with my brother and his family in Bologna, Italy. We have been to Europe several times.
Hobbies: We downsized in 2007 and it took all our time to move into less than half the space and lose THE BASEMENT! I know Craig's List, Ebay and local shops that will sell your things. This was after the kids took what they wanted (which was very little) and after an estate sale (not a garage sale, I now know the difference). Dalton is an hour plus drive to Atlanta, so we still are involved with old friends and haunts. I learned metal smithing jewelry and now beading. I have put together a Dalton Focus Group that does several art projects and we try to market our goods. I also do local work with a ministry that helps families in need. We are enjoying Dalton - the Carpet Capital of the World! It is a small friendly family town. We may never move again!
