Eats:  If you haven’t been back in 20+ years, you’re in for a surprise.  Media, always a nice little town even in the 1950’s, when we used to go up to State St. to slap awnings and watch the parade of chopped and channeled hot rods cruising the street, has become a postcard, like Grover’s Corners or Lake Woebegone, and State St. is a regular little restaurant row. By Tucker Taylor

Breakfast:
1. Fast ‘n’ Fancy - a breakfast/lunch place on the north side of State St. toward the west end.
2. Court Diner - Baltimore Pike between Gayley St. and Edgemont Ave.
3. Mrs. Marty’s Deli - in the old Media Stationery store building, to the right of the old 5 and 10.
4. Country Deli - left side of Middletown Rd. out toward Gradyville - watch closely for sign

Lunch/Dinner:
1. La Na - excellent Thai/French BYOB - State St.
2. Shere-e-Punjab - Indian BYOB or theirs - State St.
3. The Towne House - longtime Delaware County institution - Italian, but more than just pasta.
4. Fellini’s Café - Italian, BYOB, maybe a slight cut above Towne House.
5. Azie - calls itself Asian/Fusion - State St.
6. Picasso and La Belle Epoque - French - State St.
7. Stephen’s - a steakhouse, occasional loud bands - State St.
8. Sligo’s - Irish Pub fare - State St.
9. Margaret Kuo’s - classic Chinese (Mandarin and other) and Japanese - NOT just a neighborhood Chinese restaurant - this is cuisine)
10. Generations - on the site of the old 5 points Diner - a middle range American restaurant.
11. Upper Providence Grill - State Rd. (not State St.) in the old Manno’s Restaurant - O.K. fare.

Daytime activities:  You can stroll State St. and check out the  new boutiques, take a hike in Ridley Creek State Park, visit Longwood Gardens or Chanticleer Gardens, visit Valley Forge National Park with its new Visitors Center. Plus we have public golf courses, like Paxon Hallow, Springfield Country Club, and Loch Nairn in Toughkenamon.  There are lots to do while you catch up with friends you haven’t seen in quite awhile.
